VPCA Faculty Accomplishments

Misty Burruel, Art Professor
  • Her work was featured at a special exhibition of art focused on the environment on January 31 at the Visual Arts Center and Robert V. Fullerton Art Museum at CSU San Bernardino. This special exhibition was done in conjunction with the filming of The Ambassadors, a reality type TV show (for KVCR-local PBS station) where high school students compete to find solutions for environmental problems and win a $50,000 scholarship.

  • Gus Gil, Music Professor
  • Is a member of Burat Wangi, a performance ensemble, who will be performing at the Disney Center’s Redcat (Roy E. Disney, Cal Arts Theatre) on April 4-5, 2009. The renowned Burat Wangi (Fragrant Offering) performance includes masked dances, fully costumed dancers and performers, monkey chant and instrumental pieces from Bali. The sounds and visuals are stunning.

  • Roman Jaster, Adjunct Art Professor
  • Has just completed a book with Elana Mann chronicling the international performance exchange project titled Exchange Rate: 2008. Thirty-eight artists living in sixteen different countries participated in the project. With the aid of the project website www.exchangerate2008.com, participating artists produced, exchanged, and interpreted performance directions related to the election campaign. The Book Launch was held on Saturday, February 21 in Los Angeles.
