Chaffey Review Launch Party at the Wignall Museum at Chaffey College

Rancho Cucamonga, CA - Chaffey College, the School of Language Arts and the Wignall Museum are pleased to present The Chaffey Review Launch Party, January 26, 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Wignall Museum. The Chaffey Review is dedicated to the promotion of literary arts and is published annually by the students of Chaffey College. The editorial collective culls from the creative writing and journalism programs, providing effectual experience for students to learn about the publishing industry. The Chaffey Review publishes poems, short stories, and creative non-fiction that is well-crafted and lively, has an intelligent sense of form and language, assumes a degree of risk, and has consequence beyond the world of its speakers or narrators. The 156-page first issue, which includes new fiction by David Foster Wallace, will be distributed at the Launch Party. Light refreshments will be served and this event is free and open to the public. For more info, please visit

The Chaffey Review Launch Party will be held in conjunction with the Wignall Museum exhibition, Raised in Craftivity from January 26 – March 7, 2009. Raised in Craftivity is an exhibition of contemporary artists working in craft media that celebrate, challenge and subvert our expectations of these media and the cultures with which they are associated. Traditionally disdained as “feminine,” “domestic,” and “amateur,” today embroidery, ceramics, beadwork, knitting, and woodworking are embraced by emerging gallery artists who explore the rich social and historical associations of these craft media and techniques. Artists include: Jon Bonser, Elaine Bradford, Orly Cogan, Maggy Rozycki Hiltner, Carolyn Hopkins, KnittaPlease, Garth Johnson, Claire Joyce, Kate Kretz, Heather Nameth-Bren, Karen Reimer, Ben Schachter, DeAnna Skedel, and Laura Splan. A Curator’s Walk-through and Artists Reception is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, February 24 (6:00 – 9:00 p.m.) with light refreshments and entertainment featuring dj Trickmilla. There are also a number of Artists Lectures planned during the course of this exhibition. Please visit our website for more information.

The Chaffey Review Launch Party, the exhibition, talk and reception are free and open to the public. The Wignall Museum is an important part of the educational programs and mission of Chaffey College. Parents are always encouraged to view the show prior to sharing with children.
