Raised in Craftivity at the Wignall Museum at Chaffey College

Rancho Cucamonga, CA - Chaffey College and the Wignall Museum are pleased to present Raised in Craftivity from January 26 – March 7, 2009. Raised in Craftivity is an exhibition of contemporary artists working in craft media that celebrate, challenge and subvert our expectations of these media and the cultures with which they are associated. Traditionally disdained as “feminine,” “domestic,” and “amateur,” today embroidery, ceramics, beadwork, knitting, and woodworking are embraced by emerging gallery artists who explore the rich social and historical associations of these craft media and techniques. Artists include: Jon Bonser, Elaine Bradford, Orly Cogan, Maggy Rozycki Hiltner, Carolyn Hopkins, KnittaPlease, Garth Johnson, Claire Joyce, KnittaPlease, Kate Kretz, Heather Nameth-Bren, Karen Reimer, Ben Schachter, DeAnna Skedel, and Laura Splan.

Curator’s Walk-through and Artist’s Opening Reception:
Join guest curator Maria Elena Buszek for a walk-through of the exhibition on Tuesday, February 24 (6 PM) immediately followed by an Artists Reception with light refreshments and entertainment featuring dj Trickmilla.
