Students Plan a Trip to the Getty

Art History Professor John Machado will be accompanying the Associated Students of Chaffey College on a bus trip to the J. Paul Getty Museum of Art at the Getty Center in Los Angeles on Saturday, October 25. The chartered bus is being sponsored by the ASCC and funded by the college service fee. Seats are limited, so students need to reserve a seat on the bus now at the Student Activities office in Campus Center East. This trip is free to all Chaffey College students who have paid the college service fee. Students need to bring their tuition payment printout and ID when reserving a seat.

This will be a great educational opportunity for students. Museum visits provide unique experiences and change the dynamics of the learning environment, which is conducive to different learning styles. The direct museum experience stimulates the senses for heightened perception, sharpens critical thinking skills, and increases retention. It can also promote self-directed education and be a vehicle for building tolerance. It provides an avenue for students to see the material as part of their lives and identify how it informs contemporary life.
